I just have too much stuff in my house. I have decided to just start scanning my pictures and discarding the originals. I have BAGS of photos, I don't scrap and if I did I would just end up with tons of books. Am I wrong to just ditch the artifacts after scanning?

nope. just make sure to make a few backups of the scans.
